1-800-Flowers under fire for late, wilted Valentine's Day bouquets amid storm
Hundreds of customers across Long Island and the nation have taken to social media to complain about late Valentine's Day deliveries from Carle Place-based floral retailer 1-800-Flowers.
Countless customers reported deliveries that were late or didn't show up at all. Some said their flowers arrived wilted or even dead.
1-800-Flowers posted a message on its Facebook page to inform customers that the week's snowstorms caused deliveries to take longer than expected.
While the company says it cannot guarantee delivery on major "floral holidays," it says it also has a guarantee that it will work with customers until they are satisfied.
In a statement, the Nassau company said, "Despite severe weather conditions, we were still able to help the vast majority of our customers deliver a smile.... If a customer is not completely satisfied, our caring team is committed to working with them until we have delivered a smile."
