Brookhaven official: Snow budget has been surpassed by millions
Brookhaven Highway Superintendent Dan Losquadro says the town's initial snow budget has likely been surpassed by millions of dollars.
"Our initial budget was $2.6 million," said Losquadro. "We haven't tabulated this last storm, but we're estimating we're probably in excess of $7 million."
Town officials across Long Island have similar worries about depleting budgets and slow salt deliveries to public works facilities.
As News 12 Long Island has reported, adding to towns' snow woes are dwindling salt supplies. Losquadro says Brookhaven's main storage facility in Coram is down to about 10 to 15 percent of its full capacity.
