Travelers stranded as flights grounded

Hundreds of flights have been canceled due to the snowstorm that hit the south and is making its way to the northeast.
At LaGuardia Airport in Queens, most of the canceled flights were headed to Georgia, South Carolina and other places in the south that were hit hard by snow Wednesday. Nearly 900 flights have been canceled at airports across the south.
Southern-bound travelers at LaGuardia have been left stranded at the airport, as they try to book new flights or get their money refunded.
The Port Authority says extra workers will be brought in on 12-hour shifts. Officials say more than 200 pieces of snow-removal equipment are ready to deal with the storm at LaGuardia, John F. Kennedy International Airport and Newark Liberty.
