Winter storm pummels southern U.S.

The winter storm making its way to Long Island has already caused extensive problems in the south.

Treacherous driving conditions have caused numerous delays and accidents from Texas to North Carolina. In Atlanta, businesses and schools closed and residents stayed off the ice-covered roads.

The storm has also been fatal, with three people dead after a weather-related crash in Texas Wednesday morning.

More than 200,000 customers were without power through the south, due to wind and ice-covered trees bringing down power lines.
