FBI officials have introduced a rewards program in an effort to help catch those responsible for shining lasers at aircraft in flight.
Officials told News 12 that the lasers can cause what they call 'flash blindness' which could have deadly effects.
Federal officials say 99 laser incidents were reported in New York in 2013. There were 71 incidents in 2012.
The FBI announced a regional reward program that offers up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest over the next 60 days.
