Joseph Mensche arrested after police chase in Moriches

Suffolk police were involved in a late-night chase yesterday through the streets of Moriches.

Police say they tried to pull over Joseph Mensche on James Hawkins Road at around 11:15 p.m.

Mensche, 26, allegedly took off, prompting the chase. He then crashed into a snow bank and ran.

Police say Mensche was caught by a probationary recruit who lives in the area. The recruit held him until police arrived, and he was taken into custody.
