LI residents among thousands present for Trump inauguration

Many Long Islanders, including students from multiple school districts, were in attendance for Donald Trump's inauguration as 45th president of the United States Friday morning.

News 12 Long Island reporter Eileen Lehpamer was with students from Babylon who were excited to be witnessing history.

Forty-seven students from Longwood High School were also in attendance, along with students from Smithtown, Three Village and Bellmore-Merrick school districts.

Many people told News 12 that much of their morning was spent waiting in long lines and security checkpoints around the capital.

"We went from one line to the next, but we're here now so it's worth it," said one Longwood student.

Many Long Island residents are also expected to be in attendance for Saturday's March on Washington, as well as a simultaneous march in New York City.
