Nassau legislator meets with residents over Green Acres tax break

Due to insufficient notice and no community impact study, lawmakers are calling for a state investigation into the tax break given to Green Acres Mall owners.

Homeowners say their taxes jumped $800 due to the break given to the mall, and they question if it was legal.

Nassau Legislator Carrie Solages met with Valley Stream residents that are outraged over their tax bills.

The county comptroller has subpoenaed the Hempstead IDA, and there will be a court hearing next week, according to Newsday.

Solages is asking the state attorney general to also investigate.
