Mastic Beach woman receives renovated home for holidays
A Mastic Beach woman living with health issues will receive a newly renovated home as a holiday gift this season.
Gabriella Tomanovits Ambrosini's home was destroyed by Superstorm Sandy. She is living with a heart defect, fibromyalgia and partial blindness, and she was not able financially to take care of the home after the damage.
The community got together, along with Rebuilding Together Long Island, to rebuild the home.
"We are very, very happy we were able to do this, especially with the help of some of our local community funding, as well as construction companies and building supply companies. Rebuilding Together Long Island will be also working on the interior of the house after the first of the year," says Barbara Nilsen, of Rebuilding Together Long Island.
Nilsen says they hired a construction company that went out to their suppliers. The suppliers gave them all of the siding, insulation and sheathing for the home.
