LIRR riders sound off on proposed fare hikes
A public hearing was held at the Huntington Hilton last night for Long Island Rail Road riders to sound off on fare hikes before the plan goes to a vote.
As News 12 has reported, some LIRR tickets could go up more than 6 percent for one-way rides.
Officials say monthly fares would see increases of up to $15 and weekly up to $6.75.
If riders want to weigh in, the MTA will be accepting video testimony at the Hicksville station next Tuesday and the Ronkonkoma station next Thursday.
The proposal goes to a vote next month.
