Police: Lottery scam targets Hispanic women

Police are warning Hispanic women about a lottery scam.

Suffolk police say the scammers tell the women they won the lottery, but can't collect the cash because of their immigration status.

According to police, the scammers convince them to pick up the money, but ask for cash or jewelry as "collateral." Once handed over, the scammers take off.

Anyone with information can call Suffolk Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
