A man was arrested after he allegedly opened fire outside of Southside Hospital in Bay Shore Saturday morning, prompting the hospital to go on lockdown.
Police got a call about shots being fired in a parking lot outside of the hospital shortly before 6 a.m.
Responding officers arrested 35-year-old John Gamble, of Riverhead, after they say it was determined that he fired multiple rounds from a 9mm handgun. He is expected to be arraigned Sunday.
No one was injured.
Gamble is being charged with reckless endangerment.
The hospital was locked down for two hours before resuming normal operations. Patient care was not affected by the incident.
