Plans for a new school mural are causing controversy in Syosset.
A student group planned to paint the Syosset High School mascot, a Native American, on the school's parking lot in an effort to boost school spirit.
However, last week a petition was created calling for the project to be stopped. The petition has almost 200 signatures.
School officials say plans for the mural were never approved.
