Police: Resident at Manhasset group home drowns in pool
Police say an autistic man has drowned in a Manhasset pool located next door to the facility he was living in.
According to police, the unidentified 21-year-old man was on the playground at the Nassau County Children's Services Housing facility around 4 p.m. Tuesday.
That is when police say he jumped the fence and went inside the pool of a home next door on Plandome Road.
Staff found the man at the bottom of the pool minutes later and started CPR.
The man was rushed to the hospital, but did not survive.
Police are investigating the incident.
