Trial begins for man accused in deadly Elmont DWI

Opening arguments began Monday in the trial of a man who is accused of driving drunk with a suspended license and killing a pedestrian in Elmont in 2013.
Police say Brian Dudley, of Queens, hit and killed 61-year-old Walter MacDougal while he was crossing at the corner of Elmont Road and Cerenzia Boulevard.
Prosecutors say Dudley had a blood alcohol level twice the legal limit at the time of the incident. The defense questioned whether McDougal had the right of way.
Surveillance video was also shown at the trial on Monday of an SUV hitting MacDougal.
The trial continues on Tuesday.
