Lynbrook event lets kids shop for back-to-school clothes, supplies

An event was held to give kids the opportunity to get new school supplies and clothes for the upcoming year.

The Back 2 School Store event was held in Lynbrook Sunday.

Nearly 600 Nassau County elementary school children in need were at the event which was sponsored by the National Council of Jewish Women.

Each child got a personal shopper who walked around with them to help pick out what they need.

"It feels really great," says volunteer Rachel Feit. "This is my first time participating in this event and it's really nice just getting to see their faces light up."

Organizers say the event will need to be held at a bigger venue next year due to the growing number of children being helped.
