Sizzling summer temperatures continue on Long Island
Sweltering temperatures continued to be felt Monday across Long Island.
The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for Nassau and Suffolk counties through 6 p.m. Tuesday. The NWS also issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Nassau County.
The storms began to hit in the late afternoon.
News 12 Long Island meteorologists say temperatures Monday climbed to the upper 80s. Tuesday's high is expected to be around 92 degrees.
In order to beat the heat, some Long Islanders have told News 12 they head to the beach early to cool off.
