The Hempstead School District has announced that it will eliminate over a dozen staffers.
The school board met Tuesday to talk about cutting staffers to balance the budget.
According to Newsday, the district will slash 18 positions including English as a second language, music, teachers and special education teachers.
Hempstead decided to reduce spending even though a flood of child immigrants has enrolled.
