Hamlets may soon be given separate zip codes from Riverhead
There could soon be an end to the zip code confusion on parts of our East End. As of now, the hamlets of Flanders, Riverside, and Northampton share the same zip code with the Town of Riverhead.

There could soon be an end to the zip code confusion on parts of our East End.
As of now, the hamlets of Flanders, Riverside, and Northampton share the same zip code with the Town of Riverhead.
Yesterday, a Congressional committee passed a resolution that would require the hamlets be given their own unique zip code by September of next year.
Residents say the move would finally put an end to the daily problem where their mail goes someplace else and they get other people's mail.
The legislation must now go before the full Congress for a vote.
