Report: Nassau red-light camera revenue is down
A new report from Nassau County's Traffic Safety Board says revenue generated by red-light cameras in Nassau County is down.
Overall accidents are also down, according to the report. It states that accidents with injuries went down 34 percent at the county's 72 red-light camera intersections.
The report shows that revenue declined by 8 percent in 2014. Despite the downturn, Nassau Legislator Carrie Solages says he wants to make sure the program's focus is safety.
Solages says the county has the authority to install 100 cameras, but not all are in use. He hopes the data will create a push to install more cameras in intersections where they're needed.
