Malverne priest accused of misconduct

A Catholic priest in Malverne is being investigated over claims of misconduct.

Father Frank Parisi worked at Our Lady of Lourdes church. It was announced in church last weekend that Parisi had stepped down amid allegations of inappropriate behavior with a minor.

The Diocese of Rockville Centre says the alleged misconduct reportedly occurred years ago and does not involve anyone from the parish.

"The Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People establishes specific guidelines when an allegation is made against a clergy member," the diocese said in a statement. "An investigation is begun when an accusation is made. During the investigation the accused is presumed innocent."

The diocese adds that police have been notified. News 12 reached out to the Nassau district attorney's office, but has not yet heard back.

The Diocese of Rockvile Centre has set up a hotline that people can call to report incidents of abuse. The phone number is 516-594-9063.
