Dante Taylor found guilty of murdering Medford mom Sarah Goode
A jury convicted a former Marine from Mastic of rape and murder Thursday afternoon in the brutal slaying of a Medford mom.
Prosecutors said Dante Taylor met 21-year-old Sarah Goode on a deserted cul-de-sac in Medford, attacked her in her car, dragged her into the woods and raped and stabbed her more than 40 times.
During the trial, Taylor's defense attorney claimed that his client had consensual sex with Goode in the early hours of June 7, 2014 and that someone else attacked her where her car was found.
Prosecutors argued the physical evidence, DNA and cellphone records linked Taylor to the crime.
Taylor was found guilty of first- and second-degree murder charges. It took jurors three days of deliberations.
Outside the courthouse, Goode's family and friends applauded the jury as they left the Riverhead courthouse.
Taylor is expected to be sentenced on July 29.
