Glen Cove woman injured in Orlando shooting

A woman who grew up in Glen Cove was among those shot and wounded in the Orlando nightclub massacre.
Marissa Delgado graduated in 2005 from Glen Cove High School and moved to Orlando about eight years ago. Her family says she was attending school and working there.
Delgado was shot nine to 12 times when gunman Omar Mateen opened fire inside Pulse nightclub. Authorities say 49 people were killed and 53 others were hurt, marking the deadliest mass shooting in American history.
Delgado is now recovering in the hospital, her aunt tells News 12.
A smiling photo posted online before the shooting shows Delgado with Stanley Almodovar, who was killed in the attack.
In a statement to News 12, Glen Cove High School said, "Our sincerest sympathies and condolences to the families and friends of all the victims."
Glen Cove Mayor Reginald Spinello paid a visit to Delgado's family and offered the city's support. "Whatever she needs, we are going to do it for her," Spinello says.
Delgado's family says she is recovering well, and they've been able to video chat with her in the hospital.
