Police are investigating after a motorcyclist was killed in a crash on Sunrise Highway in Islip Terrace this morning.

Police say Alexander Rivera, 41, was operating a 2006 Suzuki motorcycle westbound on Sunrise Highway east of Saxon Avenue when he struck the back bumper of an SUV as motorists were slowing down to traffic.

According to police, Rivera then struck the back of a tractor-trailer, lost control of his motorcycle and fell off.

Rivera, of Mastic, was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the SUV and the driver of the tractor-trailer were not injured.
