Crews battle fire after explosions reported in Bay Shore
Crews battled a fire Sunday in a Bay Shore industrial area following reports of multiple explosions.
The fire sparked on Pine Aire Drive at Cleveland Avenue around 11 a.m.
Investigators believe a transformer fire sparked on top of a utility pole. The pole then snapped, and the blaze spread to a car, a camper and a trailer. It also damaged a nearby business, CB Cesspool.
Three Brentwood firefighters suffered minor injuries.
Police say the multiple explosions that were heard by people in the area were from small propane tanks on the property.
Authorities say there were not many of people in the area because of the holiday weekend, and they say the fire could have been much worse.
Investigators say the fire is not considered suspicious.
