East Hampton is trying to prevent a repeat of the rowdy summer of 2015.

"We're looking for a quieter successful summer, one that families can enjoy and the community will respect," says Town Supervisor Larry Cantwell.

East Hampton Police Chief Michael Sarlo says the public can expect a beefed up police presence, with 10 extra cops patrolling on weekend nights.

"Specifically looking at public urination, open alcohol incidents that happen in and around the bars and night clubs, as well as trying to make sure we maintain safety on the roadways dealing with the excessive number of taxis we have here in the summer season and also looking at noise violations," says Chief Sarlo

To help prevent overcrowding, the town is requiring all businesses to mechanically count the number of patrons at their establishments. The fire marshal will also be doing occupancy inspections every weekend.

One place that drew crowds, Cyril's Fish House, has closed after years of code-enforcement issues with the town. The Surf Lodge had been hosting an annual summer concert series, but the popular concerts are now on hold after the New York State Liquor Authority told the club that it lacked a license to host live music.

The popular Sloppy Tuna is open but under different managers. Sloppy Tuna general manager Jeff Capri says they're making sure things aren't out of control like last season.

"Too many people ... it was craziness," says Capri. "The town doesn't need that. The community doesn't need that."
