Police: Fairfield University grad charged after punching officer

Fairfield police say a 22-year-old man is facing charges for hitting a police officer in the face.

Charles Serpa, a Fairfield University graduate from Massachusetts, is accused of committing the act at a graduation party at Lantern Point. Police were called to the party in response to a noise complaint Saturday morning.

Authorities charged Serpa with attempted assault and disorderly conduct after police say he badgered the officers, got in an officer's face and eventually punched him.

Police say Serpa was released on bond and is due in court next week.
