Fleet Week begins in New York City

Today marks the start of Fleet Week in New York City.

People on Long Island and across the state are taking a little time out to tip their hats to the military men and women who patrol the world's seas.

The 28th annual fleet week kicked off with the Parade of Ships on the Hudson River.

Nearly 45,000 military members and about a dozen ships are participating.

Fleet Week runs through Tuesday.
