SSP reopens following crash involving police car
Police say the Southern State Parkway has since reopened following a series of crashes, one involving a police car.
Chopper 12 was over the scene this morning on the eastbound side by exit 37 in the West Babylon area.
Police say the first crash happened around 7 a.m. today.
Shortly after, a police car that responded to the first crash was struck by another car.
Police say that driver swerved to avoid a vehicle that was slowing down when it hit the officer's car.
The officer and driver of the car that hit him were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
