Police: Workers, customers tied up by gunman at Pier 1 Imports
Police are searching for the gunman who tied up workers and customers at Pier 1 Imports in Huntington Station.
The incident happened at the store on Jericho Turnpike around 7 p.m.
According to police, the gunman tied up the victims, emptied the cash registers and forced a worker to open the safe.
The gunman left with the cash and no one was hurt during the incident, police say.
Police say there have been at least 12 similar robberies in both Nassau and Suffolk counties since August. They say the masked gunman walks into a store, ties up employees and customers and then steals cash from a safe or cash registers.
Police say it's been challenging to catch the suspect because there is only one surveillance picture of him.
A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
Anyone with information is asked to call Suffolk Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
