A man was shot at a home in Dix Hills Friday night.
Police say the incident happened just after 9 p.m. at a house on Melrose Road.
Investigators say the man was shot in the chest and was hospitalized in critical condition.
News 12 is told that the man who was shot is the homeowner's son's friend who was visiting from Virginia. He has been identified as 27-year-old Louis Speaight.
Police say no arrests have been made in the case. Officers went door to door Saturday morning, asking neighbors for information about what they may have seen or heard last night.
Police are urging anyone with information about the shooting to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
