Police arrest 2 in Northport drug raid

Police have arrested a Northport couple accused of running a drug operation out of their apartment.
Neighbors say they were alarmed when police stormed the apartment building on Prospect Avenue, where authorities broke down the door of suite No. 2 to execute a search warrant.
Police say they arrested Shamari Williams and his common-law wife, Aliza Durante, on charges of selling drugs including heroin, cocaine and marijuana.
The couple lives near a church and a pre-school, and has a 5-month-old child.
Police say the raid followed complaints by area residents of suspicious activity. The ensuing monthlong investigation by Northport police confirmed those reports, according to Chief Bill Ricca.
Police say they seized cocaine, heroin, a stun gun and drug packaging materials during the raid. The couple's baby girl was also in the apartment at the time, and is now in the custody of a relative.
Both Williams and Durante are facing multiple drug and weapon charges, along with endangering the welfare of a child.
