Police have announced a seizure of more than 40 illegal guns and the arrest of two alleged gun runners on Long Island.
The Suffolk DA says the "Iron Pipeline" illegally brings handguns and assault weapons from the South to be sold on Long Island.
According to officials, weapons seized included multiple firing or semi-automatic handguns and rifles.
Among the weapons seized in Suffolk's 1st Precinct was a .45 caliber handgun disguised as a legal flare gun. A stun gun disguised as a pack of cigarettes was also seized.
The precinct has recorded 91 shootings since January. Four of those shootings were homicides.
Officials say the two alleged gun sellers arrested this week were Terry Byrd, of North Carolina, and Frederick Miller, of Lake Grove. Byrd is formerly from Wyandanch.
If convicted, the men face up to 25 years in prison.
