Police: 1 found dead in Medford garage fire

Police say one person is dead following a garage fire at a home in Medford.



Officers responded to a vacant home on Maple Street at around 2 a.m. after a 911 caller reported a fire in the garage of the home.



Fire officials quickly extinguished the fire and the body of a person was found inside a car in the garage, officials say. 



The body was transported to the medical examiner to determine the identity of the victim.



Preliminary investigation has determined the cause of the fire to be non-criminal in nature.
