Patients and caregivers rallied outside Gov. Andrew Cuomo's Manhattan office Tuesday, pleading for him to sign a measure that would give critically ill patients early access to medical marijuana.

Advocates have been struggling for months to get the governor to sign the Emergency Access Bill, which faces a Wednesday deadline. It would provide patients immediate access to marijuana before the Compassionate Care Act takes effect in January.

Missy Miller, of Atlantic Beach, says her family has been waiting for 15 months to get immediate care for her son Oliver, who suffers from severe seizures.

"He can have hundreds of seizures a day," Miller says. "When we were trying the oil, he would have days where he had two or four -- so it's quality of life."

Miller says she is concerned the program will get delayed.

"I'm trying to be a law-abiding citizen and save our son," says Miller. "Gov. Cuomo is making that very, very difficult for a lot of families."

There has been no word yet on if the governor will veto or approve the bill. His office had no comment for News 12.
