A special tribute in East Meadow honored those who served in the armed forces Sunday.

Dozens visited Veterans Memorial Plaza in Eisenhower Park for a remembrance service.

The ceremony was dedicated to the men and women of the armed forces.

"Remember those who served, those who made the supreme sacrifice, our MIAs and POWs [that] returned after war with mental and physical illnesses. It's important to remember that freedom is not free, to honor our veterans, and today we gather here to thank them," said Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano.

Veterans Day is Nov. 11.
