Police: Arrest made in Valley Stream murder

Police say they have arrested a man from Los Angeles who is accused of fatally shooting his estranged wife's boyfriend as he slept in her Valley Stream home.
Authorities say they arrested Deon Ewers in Oceanside Saturday.
Police say the 50-year-old allegedly entered his wife's house on East Hawthorne Avenue Friday about an hour after his flight from California landed.
They accuse him of rushing into the home, shoving his wife out of the way and firing at Majid Morris, 34, who was reportedly asleep at the time. Ewers' 14-year-old son was also in the home at the time.
Neither the wife nor the son were injured.
As police led him out of police headquarters in Mineola in handcuffs, Ewers told reporters he was defending himself.
Ewers was arraigned in Hempstead Sunday morning.
