NYPD: Body found in airplane debris in waters off Queens

(AP) - Police say they have recovered a male body in the wreckage of a small plane that reportedly went down in the Atlantic Ocean off Queens.

Police say the body was found in the area where several aircraft parts were recovered about a mile and a half off Breezy Point.

Authorities had gone to the scene following 911 calls from witnesses reporting a plane down at about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The FAA says it has no reports of any missing aircraft in the area, but is investigating.

It's still not clear how many people were on the plane.

No other information was immediately available.
