Mets reward Collins with 2-year contract extension
The Mets' season may not have ended with a World Championship ring but that didn't stop the team from rewarding manager Terry Collins with a two-year contract extension.
Collins led the Mets to 90 wins and a trip to the World Series. "We expected to have a good season, never expected to be in the World Series," said general manager Sandy Alderson. "From my standpoint it was a successful season for us. But the reason Terry is back as manager is not just because of the season we had."
Collins said when he spoke to Alderson a year ago the two agreed it was time to win. "No matter what names were on the back of the uniforms we were gonna win," said Collins. "Our fan base deserved it and it was time to repay their patience with a winner."
The 2015 season may have ended without a championship, but the future looks bright for the 2016 season.
