All 19 seats of the Nassau County Legislature are up for grabs this Election Day.

The Republican Party currently holds a 12-7 majority, and many political pundits say the GOP will likely retain power.

The supervisor jobs in all three of the county's towns are also on the line.

In Oyster Bay, Republican incumbent John Venditto is facing a challenge from Democrat John Mangelli. In North Hempstead, incumbent Democrat Judi Bosworth faces Republican Anthony Bulzomi. 

And in Hempstead, Republican Anthony Santino and Democrat Rita Kestenbaum are vying for a seat left vacant by outgoing Supervisor Kate Murray, who is currently running to be the next Nassau County District Attorney.

"I think I have the background, the knowledge and the understanding of what makes town government work," Santino says.

The last time a Democrat won an election for Hempstead supervisor was 1905.

"One-hundred eight years of party rule is way too long," Kestenbaum says.
