Retail worker tied up during robbery
A masked gunman robbed a retail store on North Wellwood Avenue in Lindenhurst Monday, according to employees there.
Police have not released any details, but officials locked down William Rall Elementary School temporarily.
Nelson Collado, who was working his first shift as a cashier at the Rainbow Shops clothing store in Lindenhurst, says that a man armed with a gun bound his hands with zip ties at around 10 a.m.
Collado's mom and aunt were also in the store and bound, he says.
When two customers came into the store during the robbery, witnesses say the man tied them up as well and took their money.
Collado says that the gunman took about $1,000 in cash from the register.
The store manager says that there are no surveillance cameras in the store.
