Police: Pedestrian struck, killed on SSP

Police say a pedestrian has died after being struck on the Southern State Parkway early this morning.



The accident shut down all eastbound lanes on the parkway near exit 23 around 6:15 a.m. 



Police say a car traveling eastbound struck the pedestrian in the roadway.



The pedestrian has been identified as Peter Perri, 56, of Shirley. Perri was pronounced dead at the scene.



The driver sustained minor injuries and is not facing criminal charges.
