Bay Shore girl critically injured in crash

A girl has been critically injured in a Hauppauge car crash.

Police say Iris Hernandez was driving on Wheeler Road at around 11 a.m. Sunday when she lost control of her Nissan and hit a Hauppauge Fire Department chief's vehicle head-on.

Hernandez's 11-year old daughter, Ismeily, was ejected from the Nissan. The Bay Shore girl was transported to Stony Brook with critical injuries.

Hernandez, her 9-year-old son, her sister and the fire chief were taken to a local hospital with injuries that weren't life-threatening.
