Search for missing East End woman intensifies

Police are ramping up their search for an East End woman missing for more than a week.

Southampton Town police say Lilla Esperanza Acupina, of Sagaponack, has been missing since Oct. 10.

Police say officers responded to a disturbance call involving Acupina and her husband Carlos outside of a business in Wainscott. He was ultimately arrested for allegedly violating an order of protection she had requested. Southampton Town Police Lt. Susan Ralph says the missing woman may have been spotted later that day, but hasn't been seen since.

"A person fitting Lillia's description was last seen walking westbound on Montauk Highway during the daytime hours on Oct. 10, as far west as Water Mill," says Ralph.

Her husband has not yet been named a person of interest in her disappearance.

Acupina, 40, is 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighs about 130 pounds. She was last seen wearing a black leather jacket with a silver zipper, blue jeans and brown boots. She is a mother of two.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts is urged to call Southampton Town police at 631-702-2230.
