Pagans Motorcycle Club to gather on LI Saturday
Hundreds of members of the Pagans Motorcycle Club are expected to gather at Duffy's Ale House in Lindenhurst on Saturday.
The Pagans are gathering for their 50th anniversary and the reopening of its Long Island chapter. The event is called "Bikers for Thomas Strong" and will raise money for Seaford resident Thomas Napoli, 13, who is battling brain cancer.
News 12 has reported that the Pagans have a history of violence. Back in 2012, a turf war between the Pagans and the Hells Angels turned deadly in Plainview and dozens of bikers were arrested.
Liz Schimmer is concerned about the Pagans coming into her neighborhood.
"If they're coming into our community, they really need to respect it and behave," says Schimmer.
Mayor Thomas Brennan says he's aware of the situation and that residents should not be concerned. He says that he is in close contact with Suffolk County police and feels that the situation is under control.
Suffolk authorities told News 12 that there will be an increased police presence in the area.
The owner of Duffy's Ale House says that the Pagans do a lot of good and the fundraiser is just one example of that.
