Poll: Gov't not doing enough for LI waters

An exclusive News 12-Hofstra poll reveals what residents think about the health and quality of Long Island's waters.
The poll asked Long Island residents if they thought local and state governments are doing enough to protect the quality of the waters around Long Island.
Twenty-four percent voted yes, 64 percent voted no and 12 percent were undecided.
Environmentalist Adrienne Esposito says more has to be done on Long Island to prevent sewage, toxic chemicals and pharmaceuticals from getting into the waterways.
"We have had more fish kills this year than any other year," she says.
Suffolk Legislator Kara Hahn sponsored a newly passed bill that bans the sale of personal care products containing microbeads.
Hahn also says she is working on more legislation that will require drug companies to take back expired or unused pharmaceuticals as another way to keep the pollutants from entering the waterways.
