Milleridge Inn workers given layoff notices
The entire staff at the Milleridge Inn has received layoff notices.
The restaurant, catering hall and shopping village has been in Jericho since the 1600s. It was sold to Kimco Realty after Owen Smith, the owner for the last 50 years, announced his retirement at the end of the year.
Kimco said it is trying to find another suitable operator for the historic facility but has not made any announcement yet. It did say at a meeting on Wednesday evening that it hasn't finalized plans for the property, but it wants to preserve at least some of it.
Over 15,000 supporters of the Milleridge Inn have signed an online petition to save the historic site.
