Fire rips through adult complex in East Moriches

Several families were forced out of their homes early Tuesday morning after a raging fire ripped through an adult community complex in East Moriches.

The incident occurred at around 4 a.m. at the Walden Pond Community, which is located on Walden Court.

Fire crews say four apartments at the complex were burned and several apartments suffered smoke and water damage.

Officials say no one was hurt during the fire, and the incident is not being considered suspicious. Fire crews are investigating what sparked the blaze.

The Red Cross is helping displaced families find temporary shelter.
