Man crashes Maserati into West Islip stores

Police say a man lost control of his Maserati and crashed into two West Islip stores last night.
The incident happened as the driver was heading south on Udall Road and lost control on a curve around 10:30 p.m.
Police say Michael Bidetti, 40, of West Islip, crashed through the front of Higbie Bagels. According to police, the car continued into the Flavor Crisp Chicken Restaurant and then stopped.
Police say both stores were closed at the time of the incident.
The driver was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
No one else was hurt. Police say Bidetti is not facing any criminal charges.
News 12 has learned that Bidetti has a criminal history dating back to 2002. It includes charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol, operating a motor vehicle by an unlicensed driver and criminal sale and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
