Day of fun held for pediatric cancer survivors
Kids and teens who won tough battles against cancer got the chance to celebrate at a special event in East Meadow on Sunday.
The fourth annual Les Nelkin Pediatric Cancer Survivor's Day was held at Eisenhower Park.
More than 100 young cancer survivors who were all treated at Cohen's Children's Medical Center in New Hyde Park came out to enjoy a day of fun.
Some kids said they're now excited to inspire others who are going through the same fight.
"I would just say have hope, and keep fighting," said Luke Colavita, of Massapequa, who had a tumor in his bladder. "I'm sure they'll get through it, and when they do, it will be like it never happened."
